Upholstery treated as tailoring

Upholstery treated as tailoring

A couture banquette is judged at one metre: whether channels are even, whether the piping runs unbroken round a curve, whether the stitch line sits dead straight across three metres. We set out every channel width and welt on the drawing before a single panel is cut, so the room you designed is the room you get.

Metalwork and millwork, not just fabric

Metalwork and millwork, not just fabric

Fine-dining seating lives or dies by its edges. Brushed-brass edge guards, inset brass strips, fluted pilasters and solid walnut plinths are drawn as part of the banquette, not bolted on afterwards, so the joinery, upholstery and metal all meet on the same line.

Factory-direct, drawings-first

Factory-direct, drawings-first

We make in our own production base in Lecong, Foshan, the centre of China's furniture industry. You deal directly with the people who cut, frame and sew: one set of drawings, one sample, one production run, crated and shipped to your site without a chain of resellers in between.

04How a commission works
  1. 1

    Brief and plan

Send your floor plan, elevations or a sketch with the look you want. We confirm seat counts, back heights, run lengths and where the end caps fall against aisles, columns and service stations.

  2. 2

    Shop drawings

We issue dimensioned shop drawings: plan, front and side elevations, stitch layout, piping and metal details, frame and foam build-up. Nothing goes into production until you sign them off.

  3. 3

    Sample and materials

On request we make a pre-production sample or a stitch mock-up in your chosen fabric or leather, and confirm fire-performance requirements for the destination market before cutting.

  4. 4

    Production

Frames, upholstery and metalwork are made in Lecong. Typical timing is 30–45 days for standard designs and 45–60 days for custom work after approval; your quote confirms the exact schedule.

  5. 5

    Crating, shipping, installation

Banquettes are wrapped, corner-protected and crated for sea freight, labelled to match the plan. We quote FOB, CIF or DDP and supply fixing details for your installer.

07Questions
What is a couture banquette?

A couture banquette is a built-in or freestanding upholstered bench seat made to the exact dimensions of a room, with tailoring-level detail: channel or biscuit stitching set out to the run length, continuous piping, and integrated timber or brass trims. Maison Banquette (a line by EASEN Commercial Furniture) draws each one from your plan and makes it to order in Foshan.

How tall should a banquette back be in a fine-dining restaurant?

Most restaurant banquettes have an overall back height of 107 cm (42 in). Fine-dining rooms often go higher, 115–135 cm, to give acoustic and visual privacy, while open rooms and window lines use 85–95 cm to keep sightlines clear. We confirm back height against your ceiling height, lighting and the view from the entrance.

What seat height and depth do you use?

Our standard seat height is 46 cm (about 18 in) to the top of the compressed cushion, matched to a 74–76 cm dining table. Seat depth is typically 50–56 cm for upright dining and up to 60 cm for lounge-style booths. Overall depth including the back is usually 60–75 cm depending on back thickness and rake.

Can you work with our own fabric or leather (COM/COL)?

Yes. We accept customer's own material and customer's own leather. Send the specification sheet first so we can check width, repeat, rub rating and fire performance, then ship the material to our factory. We calculate the metres or square feet needed from the shop drawings, including pattern matching across channels.

Do your banquettes meet UK fire regulations?

For UK contract use we specify fire-retardant foams and fabrics intended to meet BS 7176 at the required hazard level, which for most restaurants is medium hazard (BS 5852 cigarette, match and crib 5). For California we specify to CAL TB 117-2013. Test reports are supplied for the specific item where available. Always confirm requirements with your fire officer or authority having jurisdiction.

Where are Maison Banquette pieces manufactured?

Maison Banquette is a line by EASEN Commercial Furniture, and every piece is made in our own production base in Lecong, Foshan, China, then shipped direct. Working factory-direct is what allows bespoke stitch layouts, metalwork and joinery to be drawn and made by one team.
