The Ondine has a back that is shaped, not just stitched. The crest of the back is cut as a continuous wave, and the horizontal stitch lines below echo that rhythm, so the banquette reads as one flowing line along the wall. A welt follows the wave without a break, which takes a skilled upholsterer and a frame cut precisely to template.
The wave profile is cut in the timber frame on a dedicated template, not carved out of foam, so it holds its shape for years of guests leaning back. Because the template is made once, the design is most economical on longer runs or across several rooms; your quote shows any one-off template cost separately.
Soft curves photograph well, and the Ondine is often specified for pâtisseries, brunch rooms, hotel lounges and dining rooms with a feminine or Riviera palette. In cream bouclé it is quiet; in a saturated velvet with a contrasting welt it becomes the feature of the room. Seat cushion, plinth and frame follow our standard commercial build.
