Here the timber is the booth and the upholstery is the cushion. Each unit is a walnut box: a back, two ends and a seat platform in walnut, with a plain square profile and an open end that shows the grain. Into it sit loose upholstered cushions in a textured cream-and-brown tweed, with a fine ochre piping along every edge.
The pair shown faces across a rectangular walnut table on a walnut pedestal inlaid with a slim metal strip, in a walnut-panelled room with a herringbone floor. The effect is quiet and residential, more private club than restaurant.
Construction. Walnut-veneered plywood shell with solid walnut edges; booth bodies made as separate units, so a facing pair can be delivered and fixed independently; cushions on high-resilience foam with zipped covers for cleaning; ventilated seat deck.
Where it works. Private members' dining rooms, hotel restaurants, wine rooms and chef's-table spaces where the joinery is part of the interior.
Options. Timber species and stain (walnut, oak, ebonised), cushion fabric or leather, piping colour, back height and single or back-to-back units. Foams and fabrics specified to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
