This booth is drawn in blocks. The back is divided into tall rectangular cushions, three to a typical booth, each outlined in a pale contrast piping that makes the divisions read clearly from across the room. The seat is a single deep cushion in the same olive velvet, also piped, and the body below is finished in black so the upholstery appears to sit on a dark pedestal.
In the room shown, the booths stand back to back down the centre of a long dining room and run along both side walls, with black marble tables on black pedestals and brass ring feet between them. The scheme is dark stone, low light and a fire feature; the olive velvet is what keeps it warm.
Construction. Hardwood and plywood frame; back cushions individually upholstered and fixed to the frame so a single worn cushion can be replaced; black lacquered or leather-wrapped body; recessed plinth.
Where it works. Evening restaurants, hotel dining rooms and lounge bars that want generous seating with a crisp, tailored line.
Options. Number of back cushions, piping colour, velvet or leather, body finish and height. Fire-retardant foams and fabrics specified to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
