This piece works two ways at once. From the front it is a banquette: a bouclé seat cushion and a separate back cushion, both edged in ochre piping, held in a slender rectangular brass frame on four legs with levelling feet. From behind, the top of the frame carries a marble ledge at standing height, a place to rest a glass while waiting for a table or a seat at the bar.
Because the frame is open, light passes under and around it, so it can stand in the middle of a room without blocking it. The brass is fabricated square-section steel or solid brass with a brushed finish; the ledge is natural stone on a concealed support.
Where it works. Café-bars, hotel lobbies and restaurant entrances where waiting space and seating must share the same floor. It also makes a light island between two dining zones.
Options. Stone (marble, travertine, terrazzo) or timber ledge; metal finish (brushed brass, bronze, black); length; ledge height; cushion fabric (COM/COL accepted). Freestanding pieces of this height should be fixed to the floor in busy venues, and we include fixing points on the drawing. Foams specified to meet BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
