A standard banquette puts guests at 46 cm, too low for a high table. This one lifts the seat to counter height so that a guest on the banquette sits level with friends on stools, and fits a brushed-brass foot rail along the front so feet have somewhere to rest.
The back is cognac leather in even vertical channels, the seat a single long cushion in the same leather, and the base a walnut plinth that runs the full length of the banquette behind the foot rail. In the room shown it stands against walnut wall panelling in a marble-floored hotel lobby, with a marble counter table on a brass column and two upholstered counter stools on timber frames.
Construction. Reinforced hardwood and plywood frame for the raised seat; channels set out on the drawing; foot rail on brackets fixed through the plinth to the frame; high-resilience seat foam.
Where it works. Hotel lobby bars, afternoon tea counters, wine bars and anywhere high tables line a wall.
Options. Counter (about 65 cm) or bar (about 75 cm) seat height, leather or velvet, foot rail finish, run length. Check access and step-up heights with your fit-out team. Fire-retardant foams and coverings to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
