Built as one double-sided unit, this booth seats a table on each face and becomes the spine of a room. The backs rise in deep vertical channels of plum velvet with rounded tops, and the seats are wide, single cushions in the same velvet, so the velvet appears to pour from the crest down to the seat front.
The base is a band of brown leather quilted in a diamond pattern. It is the part that takes kicks from shoes and chair legs, and leather gives it both a tougher surface and a contrast with the soft colour above. In the scene shown, a row of these booths runs down the middle of a dark restaurant with black marble tables on timber pedestals and charcoal upholstered chairs on the open side.
Construction. Single hardwood and plywood carcass for both sides with a central spine; channelled backs upholstered as separate panels; quilted leather base panels on both faces; recessed plinth.
Where it works. Lounge restaurants, hotel bars and late-night dining rooms that need to divide a large floor without walls.
Options. Velvet colour, channel width, base material (quilted leather, plain leather or timber), length and back height. Fire-retardant foams and contract velvets to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
