This is the Parisian brasserie banquette, drawn tighter. The back is bottle-green velvet in narrow vertical channels, and the seat is one long, plump cushion in the same velvet. What frames it is the end: a solid walnut side panel that rises to the full height of the back, then steps down in a smooth radius to the seat, so the profile of the banquette is cut into the timber.
A thin ochre-gold piping traces the top of the back and continues around the walnut edge, and the base finishes in a walnut plinth over a brushed-brass kick strip that protects the timber from shoes and cleaning machines.
Construction. Hardwood and plywood frame; walnut-veneered end panels with solid edge banding; channels set out on the drawing so they align across joined sections; high-resilience seat foam; brass kick strip screwed to the plinth and replaceable.
Where it works. Brasseries, bistros, hotel all-day restaurants and wine bars with mosaic floors and mirrored walls.
Options. Velvet or leather, piping colour, back height, walnut or ebonised ends, brass, bronze or blackened kick strip, and runs with intermediate end panels. Foams and fabrics specified to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
