Each part of this banquette is in the material best suited to its job. The head band at the top of the back, where hair and hands touch, is a dense bottle-green velvet. The lower back, where shoulders rest, is a soft cream bouclé. The seat, which takes every coat, bag and spilled glass, is cognac leather that wipes clean.
The three are separated by ochre piping, and the same piping runs up the leading edge of the walnut end panels that frame the run. The plinth is recessed well back from the seat front and lit from beneath with a concealed LED strip, so the banquette seems to float at night and the floor below it is easy to see and to clean.
Construction. Hardwood and plywood frame with walnut-veneered ends; upholstered back panels fixed separately so the velvet or bouclé can be renewed independently; leather seat on high-resilience foam; LED channel and driver position shown on the shop drawing.
Where it works. Hotel all-day restaurants, breakfast rooms that turn into evening dining, and lobby lounges.
Options. Band colours and materials, LED colour temperature or no lighting, end panel timber, and length in joinable sections. Foams and fabrics specified to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
