This is a small booth with the character of a piece of carriage furniture. Its two side panels are shaped like wings: tall at the back, sweeping down to the arm, then curving away at the foot to form arched legs. They are covered in brown leather quilted in a fine diamond grid, with a small brass stud at every crossing.
Between them, the back is open. Two horizontal rolled rails in charcoal velvet span the frame with a gap between, and a long loose bolster sits against the lower rail for support. The seat is a single deep velvet cushion. The open back keeps the piece visually light, so it can stand in the room rather than against a wall.
Construction. Hardwood frame with shaped plywood side panels; quilted leather made over thin foam and studded through; upholstered rails fixed into the side panels; bolster with a zipped cover.
Where it works. Hotel lounges, private dining rooms, cigar and whisky bars and the window seat of a fine-dining room. It also makes a good two-person booth opposite a pair of chairs.
Options. Velvet and leather colours, stud finish, overall length for two or three seats, and fixed or loose bolster. Fire-retardant foams and coverings to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
