Height is the point of this chair. The back rises to around a metre, narrow and straight, so a row of them along a banquette-facing table reads like a line of columns rather than a scatter of seats. The inner back is upholstered in ivory with stitched channels that fan slightly towards the top; the outer shell is a warm brown, joined by a dark welt that also edges the seat.
The seat is a firm, tailored cushion with a square front edge. Beneath it, a black-stained hardwood frame stands on four slim tapered legs, the rear pair raked back to resist tipping when guests lean, each tipped with a brass ferrule.
Where it works. Opposite a wall banquette, where the chair has to hold its own against a tall upholstered back; in steakhouses and grill rooms; and in hotel restaurants with high ceilings, where low chairs look lost.
Options. Back height can be reduced for lower rooms. Inner and outer materials are specified separately in leather, faux leather or velvet, with COM/COL accepted; stitch layout, welt colour, leg stain and ferrule finish are all drawn on the shop drawing for approval. Foam to BS 5852 / BS 7176 on request.
